Finnish and Russian populations evidently make long movement E or SE to avoid Himalayas and associated ranges, before heading S N summer quarters deserted by mid Sept, some lingering in S Siberia into early Oct, crossing Mongolia and China during Oct. Migratory in most of range in C & S Japan some merely undertake altitudinal movements to lowlands.
